About Dr. J Michael Calhoun
After graduating from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a bachelor of arts in chemistry, Dr. J. Michael Calhoun enrolled in the university’s medical school. While working toward his medical degree, he completed a fellowship in oncology and earned multiple scholarships, including the Barton Foundation Scholarship. He also served as a representative and president of the honors council. His other academic achievements include recognition in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, acceptance into the Mortar Board national honor society, and membership in Alpha Omega Alpha during his final year of medical school. Following receipt of his MD, Dr. J. Michael Calhoun completed a surgical internship and neurosurgery residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Dr. J. Michael Calhoun began his career in medicine as a partner at the privately held practice Microneurosurgical Consultants in Portland. After 12 years, he moved to North Little Rock, Arkansas, and joined Central Arkansas Neurosurgery and also has a satellite clinic in Conway Arkansas for patient convience. Dr. Calhoun focuses his work on spinal and peripheral nerves disorders. Concurrent with his private practice, he serves as a neurosurgeon at Arkansas Surgical Hospital and St Vincent North in Shrewood, where he focuses on spinal cord, and peripheral nerve surgeries.
